Tasting notes
The 2007 Syrah Cinematique from the outstanding Larner Vineyard was cropped at less than two tons of fruit per acre, and was aged in one-third new French oak. It exhibits Burgundian-like sensitivities in its raspberry, cherry, and blueberry scents interwoven with notions of spring flowers and earth. Inky/purple-tinged, full-bodied, pure, and dense, but light on its feet, with unmistakable minerality, it should drink beautifully for 10-12 years. Paul Lato continues to go from strength to strength with both his Pinot Noir and Syrah programs. He had fabulous raw materials to work with in 2007, and he hit home runs with these two offerings. www.paullatowines.com

Simply a fantastic Syrah, the 2007 Paul Lato Syrah Cinematique Larner Vineyard possesses stunning aromatics of sweet cassis and blackberry fruit mixed with spice, meat and chocolate notes. Full bodied in the mouth with a seamless, smooth texture, beautiful purity, ripe fruit and a long finish.
