The 2019 Syrah Larner Vineyard Cinematique is packed with dark cherry, mocha, plum, lavender and spice, all supported by a good deal of structure that lends energy. The Larner Syrah is a wine of tremendous personality, character and nuance. Give it a few years in bottle to be at its finest.

Score 97/100 · Drink 2021-2029, Jeb Dunnuck, Aug 2021

As to the two Syrahs, both are 100% varietal and were mostly destemmed, seeing just 5% whole clusters. The 2019 Syrah Cinematique Larner Vineyard from Ballard Canyon saw mostly neutral barrels, with one-third being new. Its deep purple/ruby color is followed a floral, incredibly pure, medium to full-bodied Syrah offering loads of raspberry and blackberry fruit as well as spring flowers, ground pepper, orange blossom, and hints of bouquet garni. About as seamless and elegant as they come, it's perfectly balanced, has ripe tannins, no hard edges, and a monster of a finish. This is power and elegance put together brilliantly. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years.
