Tasting notes
Coming from the Russian River Valley, the 2022 Papera Ranch Heritage Wine offers tremendous hedonistic pleasure right out of the gate. For this cuvée, the team here works with blocks planted to 55% Zinfandel, along with eight other varieties, notably including more Carignan. A purple hue, the wine opens to notes of mixed berry compote, candied flowers, mocha, and sweet tobacco. Supple and full-bodied, it fills the palate with plush tannins and a juicy, clean finish. It’s seamless in its structure and will have a wide window for enjoyment over the coming 12 years.

The 2022 Papera Ranch Heritage comes from a block planted to around 40% Carignan and 12 other varieties, picked at the same time and co-fermented. It opens with touches of tar that give way to blackcurrant, boysenberry, desiccated lilac and turned earth. The full-bodied palate is light on its feet due to its bright, lip-smacking acidity. It offers concentrated, gently crunchy flavors, a chalky texture and a long, floral finish.
