Red-ruby. Dark plum, redcurrant, flowers and spices on the nose. Rich, plump and ripe but dry and serious, with complex flavors of plum, redcurrant, tobacco, leather and mocha. Finishes with lush, ripe tannins and a rather sophisticated texture.Lacks only the length for an outstanding rating.

Score 87/100 · Drink 2005-2011, Robert Parker, Dec 2005
The 2003 Merlot (96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc) reveals plenty of aggressive toasty oak, which obliterates some of the fruit, medium body, and tough, hard tannin. Although very good to excellent, it is not as exciting as I had anticipated from barrel. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (707) 948-4801; Fax (707) 948-4808
