Tasting notes
Limpid ruby-red. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, incense, vanilla and licorice, and a smoky nuance builds in the glass. Sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering intense black raspberry, boysenberry, spicecake and floral pastille flavors and a touch of cola. Lingers with impressive tenacity on a long, smooth finish that emphatically repeats the floral and dark berry notes.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is another terrific 2016 from this estate. Brought up in 40% new French oak, it offers a focused, elegant, medium to full-bodied style as well as terrific notes of violets, blueberries, spice, and earth. It has terrific purity, elegance, and length, and is one of the finest examples I’ve tasted of this cuvée. The Lucia wines are made by the Pisoni Family and focus on the non Pisoni Vineyard releases. As normal, these are impeccably made and terrific wines.
