Score 92/100 · Drink 2015-2024, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jul 2015

(12.8% alcohol): Healthy dark red. Allluring aromas of black cherry, coffee, licorice and dried flowers. Supple and creamy but dry in the mouth, offering excellent definition and cut to its subtle flavors of cherry, fresh herbs and minerals. Not an opulent wine but sexy, pliant and perfumed. Finishes with sweet, ripe tannins, a lingering balsamic element and excellent length.

Savoury, lively nose. Still some quite chunky oak. This big wine could do with a bit of lift. (JR)

An opaque ruby/purple color and a muted nose are followed by a harmonious blend of fruit, acidity, body, tannin, and alcohol. There is fine length and purity, as well as medium to full body. Although undoubtedly excellent, the wine is closed, monolithic, and unyielding. It has 10-15 years of potential ageability. Note: Prices are listed only for those wines that are being pre-sold as futures by MacArthur Beverages in Washington, DC, the first American wine shop to offer California wine futures, which they have done for eleven consecutive years.
