Score 92/100 · Drink 2015-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2013
I was deeply impressed with the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon from Palmaz, an emerging property in Coombsville. Plum, black cherry, spice, licorice and graphite notes all take shape in a layered, expressive wine that captures the very best qualities of the year. With time in the glass hints of mocha, menthol, spice and leather develop, adding considerable nuance and complexity. The tannins are a bit chewy today, so I would give the 2011 another few years in bottle. The blend is 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. This is a terrific showing from the Palmaz family and winemaker Mia Klein.
