Score 97-99/100 · Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate, Jun 2004

Produced from 85 year old vines, Jadot’s 2002 Chapelle-Chambertin is the finest example of this vineyard I’ve ever put to my lips. Its awesome aromatics reveal coconut, vanilla, super-ripe blackberries, licorice, and cherries. On the palate, this stunning wine is extraordinarily expansive, conquering the taster with wave after wave of viscous (yet fresh and juicy) black fruits. Medium to full-bodied and seamless, this harmonious, chewy-textured gem lingers on the palate for over a minute. It has power, grace, muscle, and elegance. What more can you ask for?

Good bright ruby-red. High-toned roasted fruits, licorice, violet and sweet oak on the nose. Sweet, supple and creamy, with fruit currently dominated by an exotic coconutty oak quality. A second barrel showed even riper aromas and superb richness.
