Score 94/100 · Drink 2022-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2020

The 2017 Pinot Noir Dierke is powerful, rich and heady, all of which make it an absolutely joy to taste. The heat of the year comes through in the wine's virile feel and overall intensity. Dried flowers, mint, tobacco, cedar and licorice all add aromatic nuance, but more than anything else, the Dierke is a Pinot of structure. The 40% stems work so well here, but I would give the wine time in bottle to allow the tannins to soften.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Dierke is bright and wonderfully focused in the glass. A wine of energy and structure, the 2017 has so much to offer. Readers should expect a tense, slightly nervous Pinot built on persistence and drive. The 40% whole clusters add aromatic intensity and complexity throughout.
