Electric fruit on the nose – really crackles out of the glass. Cranberry, redcurrant, rhubarb. Stemmy and vibrant, and there's leathery complexity too. This is the full package – a real Pinot-lover's Pinot. Medium body with light tannins and high, rounded acidity, with a long, extravagant finish led by the leather and liquorice notes. Up there with the best of them. (RH)

The 2019 Pinot Noir Estate Belay shows the mid-weight structure of the year. Floral and savory notes lead into a core of sweet red cherry fruit. The 2019 should drink well with minimal cellaring. I find it a bit light relative to the norm here, which may be a reflection of the year, the move towards gentler extractions or the increase in stem inclusion (40% in 2019), or possibly a combination of all of the above.
