Score 97/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2021 Chardonnay East of Eden Pisoni Vineyard comes from 39-year-old vines in the Pisoni Vineyard. The wine underwent full malolactic conversion and was matured for 16 months in 55% new French oak. It has pure, layered scents of white peaches, meringue, allspice and chaparral with undertones of iodine. The palate combines a powerful core of fruit with singular, oceanic accents. It glides through the mouth with a luxurious, satiny texture foiled by focused acidity and finishes with incredible length and perfume. It will be long lived in bottle. 143 cases were made.

Score 96/100 · Drink 2024-2031, Jeb Dunnuck, Aug 2023

From a site in the southern, slightly warmer portion of the Santa Lucia Highlands, the 2021 Chardonnay East of Eden Pisoni Vineyard is one of the tighter, more mineral-drench, backward Chardonnays in the lineup. Crushed citrus, flinty minerality, orange blossom, and spicy wood notes all define the aromatics, and it's pure and medium to full-bodied, with integrated acidity and a focused, layered style that will benefit from a year or two of bottle age. It will drink beautifully through 2031.
