Good deep red. Expressive, superripe aromas of briary currant and blueberry, menthol and mocha. Wonderfully sweet and aromatic in the mouth, with highly concentrated, nearly candied flavors of blackberry pie and framboise Shows a surmuri aspect that reminded me of grenache, but a firm spine of acidity gives the wine freshness and grip. Still a bit youthfully unforthcoming and in need of three to five years of aging. A powerful, extraordinarily ripe 2001 that finishes with big, tongue-dusting tannins and explosive length.

A winner, the 2001 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses displays demure perfume and dark cherry scents. While it lacks the verve and weight of the Sentiers, it is suave, fruit-driven and seamless. Loads of sweet blueberries and cherries make up this harmonious effort’s light to medium-bodied personality. It should be drunk over the next 7 years. Bright red-ruby. Deep, highly aromatic nose of raspberry and white pepper. Fat, supple, sweet and rich; perfumed and harmonious from the outset. Finishes sweet and long, with very fine tannins and a whiplash of primary fruit flavor.
