Tasting notes
Inky ruby. High-pitched aromas of dark berries, olive, violet and peppery spices; very much in a northern Rhone style. Sappy, penetrating black and blue fruit flavors pick up spiciness and smokiness with aeration, along with a sexy floral pastille quality. Finishes extremely long, with mounting tannins and excellent spicy persistence.

The 2012 Syrah Peters Vineyard is striking, Red cherries, smoke, new leather and grilled herbs are all nicely layered in the glass. Initially quite dark and powerful, the 2012 opens up gracefully over time as floral and savory notes from the stems (75%) take on greater prominence, giving the wine an attractive sense of lift. Violets and dried rose petals add nuance on the soft, welcoming finish. There is plenty of near and medium-term appeal here.
