Tasting notes
Similarly colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot) is more reserved and tight aromatically yet has sensational purity its darker, blue-tinged fruits as well as notes of graphite, dark chocolate, candied violets, and scorched earth. Straight-up gorgeous on the palate, it's a monster of a 2017 that's full-bodied, has a stacked mid-palate, no hard edges, and a great finish. It's one of the few wines to come close to what was achieved in 2016, so hats off to the team for this stunning wine. 2-4 years of bottle age are warranted, and it will keep for two decades or more.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is another beautiful, alluring wine from Plumpjack. Rich and racy on the palate with terrific depth, the Reserve has so much to offer. Black cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and chocolate all flesh out in this racy Oakville Cabernet. The Reserve is darker, richer and creamier than the Estate, but is not materially different in quality - although it has a ton to offer as well.
Made up of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve bounds out of the glass with bold, vivacious black currant preserves, blackberry pie and plum pudding notes followed up with notions of black forest cake, Indian spices, garrigue, Provence herbs and violets plus a touch of molten licorice. Big, full-bodied, rich and decadent, it has an impressive structure of firm, ripe, velvety tannins and tons of black fruit layers, finishing very long and very spicy.
