Score 96/100 · Drink 2022-2072, Robert Parker, Jun 2012

One of the most backward wines of the tasting, the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve exhibits stunning richness as well as copious notes of flowers, lead pencil shavings, white chocolate, blackberries, blueberries and cassis. This huge, pure, rich Cabernet Sauvignon possesses good acidity, a stunning texture, copious but sweet tannins, and a long finish. It needs another decade to reach full maturity, and should be a 50-year wine when all the dust settles. Bravo! Neither of these offerings from Plumpjack Winery (the former site of the classic Cabernet Sauvignons from Villa Mt. Eden produced in the 1970's and early 1980's) has barely budged in their development since I tasted them from bottle in October, 2004. Tel. (707) 945-1220; Fax (707) 944-0744
