Score 94/100 · Drink 2023-2033, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2021

The 2018 Pinot Noir Alberigi is laced with the essence of dried flowers, mint, cedar, tobacco and dried cherries. Understated and translucent, with lovely mid-palate pliancy, the Alberigi is all charm. Silky tannins and supple fruit add to its considerable immediacy. Savory and earthy notes linger, all framed by tannins that need time to soften.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Alberigi, from a site in the Russian River, nicely balances exuberance and freshness. A touch of whole cluster (20%) gives the sweet red and bluish fruits nuance and energy to play off the Russian River density. Lavender, rose petal and sweet spice meld into the deep, polished finish. Here, too, all the elements are impeccably balanced from start to finish.
