Score 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2012
Bright, full red-ruby color. Dusty black raspberry, cassis, violet and loam on the nose. Rich, concentrated and tactile, with pungent wild dark berry flavors complicated by a subtle saline quality and a note of sassafras. Youthfully primary today but showed an increasingly creamy quality as it opened in the glass, without betraying any heaviness. Finishes with suave tannins and a bit of acidity to be absorbed.
