Tasting notes
The 2017 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard was fermented in barrel and aged 16 months with bâtonnage in 65% new French oak. It features expressive notes of lemongrass, spiced apples, warm peaches and lime leaves with nuances of honeydew melon, fresh hay and toasted almond. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs a punch of intense lemon-laced stone fruit flavors, giving great freshness and leading to a long, savory finish.

I’d put these Chateau Boswell Chardonnay up against anything coming out of California today. Sourced from Old Wente Clones and a remarkable site in the Russian River Valley, the 2017 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard spent 16 months in 70% new French oak. It offers a more medium gold color as well as plenty of toasty notes intermixed with classic Ritchie caramelized citrus, lemon curd, beeswax, and hints of minerality. It's lush, full-bodied, has good acidity, and a great finish. It's another thrilling wine from this estate that offers classic California richness and depth paired with a sense of restraint, balance, and loads of class.
