Score 93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2008

Inky purple. Intense, piercing raspberry, blackberry and floral aromas hark to the northern Rhone. Sweet red and dark berry preserve flavors are firmed by youthful tannins, picking up Asian spices and cracked pepper with air. Turns smokier on the finish, with the suave berry and spice qualities carrying through. Most Cote-Rotie producers would kill for the clarity and sweetness of fruit that this is showing today.
