Deep ruby. Powerful aromas of blackberry, woodsmoke, mocha and Indian spices, with a floral nuance adding lift. Weighty but energetic on the palate, offering sweet dark berry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of candied violet. Nothing delicate about this one. Quite a bit different than the North Coast bottlings, as one might expect, finishing with strong punch, building tannins and lingering smokiness.
