The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru is showing some reduction and also some toasty oak on the smoky, nutty nose, which is powerful yet, at least at present, uncouth. The palate is crisp and sharp on the entry, featuring lemon and blood orange, although I find the oak impinges too much on the second half and slightly dries the finish. This is going to go one of two ways - up or down! Given the amelioration in the glass, I feel optimistic... Up! Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure)

Cask sample. Rich and dense and classic. Lovely density and green freshness. Long and very correct. (JR)
