Score 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2013
(vinified with at least 50% whole clusters): Bright medium red. Red fruits and minerals on the nose. Fat, sweet and open-knit, but with a vibrant sappy quality to the red fruit and spice flavors. Very round and plush Volnay with a sweet, persistent finish. A charmer. Made from a blend of 10-, 20-, 30-, 40- and 70-year-old vines. "This wine has finally reached premier cru level," Rossignol noted. As I mentioned in the last issue, Rossignol had to move all of his 2010 barrels from his old cellar in Volnay to his new facility in Beaune and had no choice but to filter the wines for clarity as a result. But this bottling managed to retain its roundness.
