Score 91/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2017

The 2014 Howell Mountain is another interesting blend from this estate and checks in as 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Syrah and 5% Zinfandel that was aged in the standard mix of 95% French and 5% American oak. It’s gem in this lineup and boasts a deep purple color as well as sumptuous notes of black currants, scorched earth, and cracked pepper. With medium to full-bodied richness, a beautiful mid-palate and fine tannin, drink it anytime over the coming 7-8 years (I wouldn’t be surprised to see it keep longer.
