Tasting notes
Lato's 2015 Chardonnay Le Souvenir Sierra Madre Vineyard is endowed with notable precision and tension. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint, white pepper and chalky notes reinforce an impression of finesse and nuance. A slight touch of reduction adds complexity to this understated, focused Chardonnay from Paul Lato.

The 2015 Chardonnay le Souvenir Sierra Madre Vineyard boldly goes with invigorating white peach, grapefruit peel and green mango notes plus suggestions of orange blossoms, honeycomb and allspice. Medium-bodied and oh-so-elegant in the mouth, it gives a lovely quiet intensity of stone fruit and citrus layers, finishing softly spoken and on a mineral note.
Showing a touch more oak (it was brought up in 70% new barrels), the 2015 Chardonnay le Souvenir Sierra Madre Vineyard offers classic notes of white peach, pineapple and buttered stone fruits intermixed with spice and hints of toasted nuts. It's ripe, beautifully textured and full-bodied on the palate offering tons of richness and depth as well as a great finish. Paul Lato is unquestionably one of my favorite winemakers in the Central Coast, and I continue to love his wines. While I found 2015 to be a difficult vintage, you wouldn’t know it by tasting through this lineup.
