Produced from the oldest plantings at Lee Hudson's Carneros ranch, the 2020 Red Blend H Block Hudson Vineyard is primarily Cabernet Franc. Boasting expressive aromas of black cherries, cassis and a hint of tobacco, this is quite rich and ripe yet not heavy or overdone. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied, sitting somewhere between silk and velvet in terms of the texture, with a long, lingering finish. Complex and elegant, it's a classic effort from this oft-maligned vintage.

Mostly Cabernet Franc (there's 30% Merlot) and all from the Hudson Vineyards, the 2020 Red Wine H Block Hudson Vineyards offers a plump, medium to full-bodied, rounded style as well as lots of plum and darker berry fruits, notes of chocolate and scorched earth, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length.
The 2020 H Block Hudson Vineyards, 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot, is bright and nervy, with tons of Franc nuance, the 2020 has plenty of character. Crushed red berry fruit, cedar, mint, tobacco and white pepper all run through the 2020. Time in the glass brings out fierce tannins that ultimately dominate the balance here. I am cautiously optimistic.
