Tasting notes
The 2021 H Block Hudson Vineyards is a co-fermented blend of 70% Cabernet Franc from H block (for which the wine is named) and 30% Merlot (from neighboring I block). Aged 20 months in 80% new French oak, the wine offers up notes of raspberries, tobacco, cedar and hints of black tea on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is richly concentrated, with an almost creamy mouthfeel, masses of ripe tannin and a long, lingering finish.

The 2021 Red Wine H Block Hudson Vineyards checks in as 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot that was raised in two-thirds new French oak. It's a more closed, structured wine built for the cellar, but it has beautiful dark, almost blue fruits, some violet and floral notes, lots of building tannins, and medium to full-bodied richness. Don't think about opening bottles for at least 4-6 years.
The 2021 H Block Hudson Vineyards is a dense, seamless wine. Co-fermentation of Cabernet Franc with Merlot, as executed by winemaker Andy Erickson and his team, yields a wine of exceptional balance. Succulent dark red fruit, blood orange, spice, espresso and incense all build in the glass. Here, too, the balance is simply exceptional. What a wine.
