Tasting notes
Good red-ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, mocha and smoke, lifted by a floral topnote. Ripe, fresh and intense, with a sappy quality to the dark cherry and smoke flavors. Nicely supple, full cabernet, finishing with broad, sweet tannins and very good length.

The 2004’s superior is the very Bordeaux-like yet fuller-bodied 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, which shows fruit purity, some licorice-infused black currant and cedar notes, with medium to full body, good spiciness, and depth. This wine is still young but should hit its stride in 2-3 years and last for up to 15. Tel. (707) 967-8448
Bright ruby. Smoky black fruits, meat and a whiff of toasty oak on the slightly reduced nose. Then clearly more suave and delineated than the 2004, with juicy acidity giving sappiness and energy to the middle palate. Finishes with chewy, sweet tannins and excellent persistence. Winemaker Hirby told me that the 2004 was racked too frequently; this one, in contrast, has hardly been racked at all: most of the wine was racked in October of 2006 but 20% of the juice had not yet been touched in early March.
