The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a potent, brooding wine with huge fruit and equally imposing tannins. The 2017 is frankly a miraculous wine. I tasted some of the lots at the end of the harvest, but before October fires forced the hand of the winemaking team, which simply was not able to press all the lots. The wines that were finished were racked into cask and then survived the onslaught of brutal fires that damaged the property and destroyed a number of buildings. Black cherry, gravel, menthol, game and earthy notes lend power to this decidedly burly, rustic Cabernet Sauvignon. I can't wait to taste this with a bit of bottle age.
