The estate’s first Pinot Noir offering, and named after Joe Donelan’s two sons, the 2009 Donelan Pinot Noir Two Brothers, fermented with a portion of whole cluster, possesses a brilliantly transparent ruby color, to go with a very burgundian perfume of spiced cherries, dried flowers, white pepper, underbrush, and a decidedly mineral, almost gunpowder like quality that shines on the palate. Beautifully complex and fragrant on the nose, the wine is medium bodied and energetic on the palate, featuring a focused yet supple texture that hides solid underlying structure, good acidity, and plenty of length on the finish. Give bottles 2-3 years in the cellar and then drink over the following decade.
