Tasting notes
Possibly the superstar of the Rutherford appellation, Staglin’s brilliant 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as a sweet perfume of kirsch liqueur, licorice, subtle smoke, roasted herbs and that red, loamy soil note that is part of the so-called “Rutherford dust” terroir characteristic. Round, rich and opulent with beautiful purity, but still some light tannins in the background, this wine has absorbed all of its new oak and is currently a gorgeous example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for another two decades. The dense ruby/purple-colored 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon 20th Anniversary is somewhat closed, but gorgeously rich and full-bodied revealing black raspberry, cedar, cassis, and spice box characteristics as well as high quality, well-integrated, toasty oak. This rich, powerful but elegant, well-delineated Cabernet should be at its finest between 2010-2028. Tel. (707) 963-1749; Fax (707) 944-0535
