Tasting notes
Score 91-93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2004

Saturated ruby to the rim. Expressive, urgent aromas of crushed blackberry, gunflint, game, mint and cracked pepper, all lifted by a violet element. Concentrated flavors of blackberry and baker's chocolate, with a distinctly saline suggestion of extract. The intensity here suggests very low yields. The wine's huge tannins reach the molars. This has been a very successful cuvee since the exotic 2000 release.
