Tasting notes
The 2014 Blanc de Blancs Charles Heintz Vineyard, from a late 2022 disgorgement, is quite possibly the most elegant and refined California sparkling wine I have tasted. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes inform this sublime, wonderfully nuanced wine. This is so impressive. Disgorged: November, 2022. Dosage is 2 grams per liter.

The 2014 Blanc de Blancs Heintz Vineyard (100% Chardonnay) was made using the traditional method and spent 12 months in barrel and 40 months on tirage, with two grams per liter dosage. It was disgorged in November of 2018. It has a rich, autolytic nose of baked brie, brioche and mushroom pastry with baked apples, dried hay, honeyed hazelnuts and hints of lemon cream. Medium-bodied, it has a good core of savory fruit with finely beaded mousse, juicy acidity and a long, savory finish. This has lots of life ahead. Less than 150 cases were made.
The 2014 Blanc de Blancs Charles Heintz Vineyard is creamy, sensual and enveloping. dried flowers, orchard fruit, mint and apricot are all laced together in a sparkling white endowed with tons of energy and that distinct expression of Chardonnay that is such a signature here. The 2014 is a wine of textural richness and pure pedigree. I loved it.
