This is Morlet’s “second” Sauvignon Blanc label, produced from the barrels that didn’t make the cut for the final blend of La Proportion Doree. It is mainly Sauvignon Blanc (85%) from the same vineyard as La Proportion Doree with a little Semillon (15%). The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Les Petits Morlet leaps from the glass with ready-for-business scents of lemon curd, key lime pie and apple blossoms with touches of oyster shells and elderflower. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of mouth-watering citrus and apple flavors, framed by a lively line and finishing on a chalky note. 240 cases were made.

Starting with the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Les Petits Morlet, this comes from declassified lots from the La Proportion Doree cuvée and is 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon aged 14 months in all used barrel. It has a beautiful and complex nose of crushed lime, orange liqueur, and earthy minerality to go with a rich, medium to full-bodied style on the palate. This concentrated Sauvignon brings the richness and depth, yet it has great acidity, salty, mineral-like nuances, a kiss of toasty oak, and a blockbuster of a finish. It's one hell of a second wine!
The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Les Petits Morlet is an absolutely gorgeous second wine from Morlet. Sauvignon Blanc character really comes through nicely. Lemon oil, mint, white flowers and chalk give the 2018 a brilliant upper register, but there is plenty of the textural depth that is such a signature here.
