The 2012 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard is a bit light, a quality that is shared by most wines from this site in 2012. Dark red cherries, crushed flowers, aromatic spices and blood orange are some of the notes that open up in the glass. If taken on its own terms, the 2012 is quite pretty, but I don't see a ton of Pisoni typicity.

Normally the most powerful in the line, the 2012 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard is more supple and mid-weight than previous vintages, with plenty of sweet cherry and strawberry fruit, spice, underbrush and floral notes all flowing to a medium-bodied, elegantly textured profile on the palate. Possessing a core of sweet fruit, with a nicely focused feel and good length, it should be consumed over the coming 4-5 years.
Dark red cherries, tobacco, mint, savory herbs, licorice and rose petals are some of the notes that emerge from the 2012 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard. The 2012 is tasty, but it lacks the customary depth and personality of Pisoni, a common thread for so many wines from this site in 2012.
Vivid ruby. Pungent dark berry and potpourri scents show excellent clarity and a strong overlay of exotic spices. Supple, expansive and sweet, offering intense blackberry and cherry compote flavors enlivened by juicy acidity and a touch of peppery spices. The floral quality comes back strong on the finish, which clings with superb spicy intensity. This is very suave, and quite expressive already. (JR)
