Tasting notes
Score 91/100 · Drink 2015-2027, Robert Parker, Jun 2015

The 2005s include the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, which, like all of its siblings, tips the scales at 14.7% natural alcohol. It has classic crème de cassis, cedar wood and a touch of graphite. In many ways Larkmead’s 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is a Napa Valley version of the famous fifth-growth Pauillac, Château Pontet-Canet, performing at first-growth levels. Drink this over the next 10-12 years.

Black cherry and whiff of allspice on the reticent nose. Core of well-ripened black fruit. Good structure and sufficient acidity for the future. (LM)

Good full medium ruby. Aromas of dark chocolate, spices, flowers and fresh herbs. Offers tobacco leaf and bitter chocolate flavors, and a creamy-sweet texture that seems more merlot than cabernet. Finishes with soft tannins.
