Tasting notes
100% 80+ year old Grenache on sandy soil – whole bunch pressed. Rich and gamey on the nose. Very heady and hedonistic; seems to carry its alcohol rather better than the Vieilles Vignes. Hugely hedonistic, There's a certain purity here. Pure visceral pleasure, Sweetness triumphs over fine tannins. (JR)

Ruby-red. Seductive aromas of raspberry, Asian spices, smoky minerals and potpourri. Lively red fruit flavors show a silky texture and good mineral tang. A vivacious, seamless wine that's delicious right now.
Ruby-red. Explosively perfumed bouquet of spicy red berries and cherry, with suave minerality. Vibrant red fruit flavors are finely etched and gain sweetness with air, finishing with great sappy persistence. This boasts impressive balance.
The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Speciale, which includes 100% stems from a vineyard planted in pure sand in the Courthezon sector of Chateauneuf du Pape, has the classic kirsch liqueur notes with licorice, pine forest notes, and plenty of pepper. It is a noble, full-bodied style of Chateauneuf du Pape with superb purity and length. Importers: Martin Scott Wines, Little Neck, NY; tel. (516) 327-0808 and Stacole Fine Wines, Boca Raton, FL; tel.
