Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2006-2016, Robert Parker, Dec 2006

The 2004 Cru (1,300 cases produced) offers wonderfully rich cassis fruit interwoven with notes of licorice, smoke, and subtle oak, supple tannin, and a flavorful mid-palate with good expansiveness as well as finesse. It should drink beautifully for a decade or more. Previously recommended: 2003 Aida (96), 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (95), 2003 Zinfandel Aida (90). Tel. (707) 963-9292; Fax (707) 963-7848

(a new entry-level wine, a blend of 80% cabernet sauvignon and 20% merlot, from purchased fruit from Coombsville and Calistoga and Aida cabernet sauvignon) Good deep red. Slightly medicinal aromas of cassis and licorice. Sweet and juicy, with primary flavors of black cherry and cassis. Possesses good stuffing if less density than the flagship wine from Vineyard 29. Finishes with building tannins.
