The 2014 Chardonnay Trout Gulch is bright, finely-sculpted and energetic in style. Lemon peel, white pepper, mint and crushed stones are all beautifully delineated. The crystalline expression that is typical in this site planted with own-rooted Chardonnay comes through nicely, but there is good depth as well.

One wine I absolutely have to have is the 2014 Trout Gulch Chardonnay from Ceritas, which is just as focused and pure as I remember it, with all of the energy that makes this Santa Cruz Mountains site so special. It is fun to taste it a few days before heading into the region. I love research.
