Score 95/100 · Drink 2024-2036, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2022
The 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Vineyard is bright and effusive. Blood orange, exotic spice, mint, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and dried herbs lend notable aromatic presence. Behind that is a deep core of fruit that is going to need time to unwind. The 80% whole clusters are evident, but not intrusive. Planted in 1978, these are believed to be the oldest own-rooted Pinot vines in the West Sonoma Coast. I would give this a few years to soften.
