Tasting notes
The flagship 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as good as it was from barrel, if not just a bit better. Black cherry, licorice, smoke and chocolate are some of the signatures, but it is the wine's balance that stands out most.

The top wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and is simply called Gandona. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Gandona is aged 21 months in 81% new oak and there are about 400 cases of the 2014, which is a beautiful wine offering notes of blackberry, blueberry, charcoal and spring flowers. It is deep, full-bodied, opulent and flattering to smell and taste. It should drink well for at least two decades.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon shows a slightly more polished style for this Pritchard Hill estate, partly the result of a lower percentage of new oak. Precise and nuanced, but with plenty of intensity, the 2014 is shaping up to be a terrific wine. It will be interesting to see if the wine retains this much freshness as it finishes aging and goes into bottle. Hints of lavender, sage, mint and sweet spices add nuance on the finish.
