Score 89/100 · Drink 2018-2023, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2018

Dark red. Musky, slightly drying scents of plum, spices, tobacco leaf and balsamic vinegar. Dry, fine-grained and rather suave, showing good energy to its currant and fresh herb flavors. The acidity is actually a bit intrusive but helps to carry the fruit, as the tannins here are dusty and rather light. This juicy, leanish wine shows modest flesh and sweetness but is still alive and brisk. But drink up, as this Cabernet will only lose its remaining fruit and density. (just 12.8% alcohol)

Corison

Cathy Corison is one of Napa’s leading lights – a matriarch of the region who crafts defiantly elegant Cabernet Sauvignon from her old vines on the benchland between Rutherford and St Helena. These refined, long-ageing wines are some of Napa’s most impressive.
