Fruit sourced from Allen, Bacigalupi, Bucher, Flax and Rochioli Riverblock – all along the Westside Road. Hot year, poor fruit set, low yields. Aged 14 months in French oak (52% new, 27% one year old and 21% two years old). pH 3.53, TA 5.5 g/l. Pale garnet in colour. Rocky reduction aromas, soft, supple leather, dried leaves and cinnamon-walnut pastry filling. Benign funk and an edge of olive tapenade. Firm acidity and fine-grained tannins. Lovely – a wine to think over. A touch of dried red fruit, spice and coffee grounds linger on the finish. (SCJ)

It was difficult to penetrate and evaluate. I love the sexy, sensual character of the 2005 Pinot Noir Westside Road Neighbors. There are just under 1,000 cases of this glorious Pinot, which comes across like a premier cru from the Cote de Beaune. Dark plum/ruby-tinged with sweet kirsch, pomegranate, raspberry, and dusty, loamy soil scents, this medium to full-bodied, elegant, pure wine is totally captivating. It is everything a top-notch Pinot Noir should be. Tel. (707) 433-6425; Fax (707) 433-6546

Dark red. Explosive strawberry and raspberry liqueur scents are accented by exotic spice and cola notes on the vibrant nose. Enticing sweet red berry flavors are lifted by fresh acidity and firmed by dusty tannins. The finish of suave, focused red fruits shows excellent persistence and purity. Platonic Russian River pinot that's irresistible right now.
