Tasting notes
Aged 20 months in 90% new barrels, the 2022 Roberta's Reserve shows plum, currants, chocolate, and black cherries. It's full-bodied and beautifully concentrated, with ripe, polished tannins, integrated acidity, and a long, seamless finish. It's already a joy to drink (as is just about every 2022) and is clearly a standout success in the vintage. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2022 Roberta's Reserve State Lane Vineyard is wonderfully perfumed, with hints of sandalwood set against a backdrop of ripe cherries. It's full-bodied, plush, round and opulent, a bit less structured and yet richer than the 2021, finishing tannic yet still fresh on the finish.
The 2022 Roberta’s Reserve (100% Merlot) is a powerful, dense wine. Succulent black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and licorice are all dialed up. There’s a bit of tension in the tannin that is the result of uneven ripening. That tension adds energy and persistence in the early going. It will be interesting to see how this develops. I would prefer to err on the side of caution and drink this on the earlier side, as Merlot was especially challenged in 2022
