The 2018 DB4 is a terrific introduction to this range. Medium in body and pliant, with striking aromatic presence, the 2018 is super-attractive today. All the elements are so nicely balanced. Inky blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and rose petal lend brightness to this wonderfully inviting Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from Bryant.

What can be thought of as the second wine of the estate, the 2018 DB4 is beautiful, offering a medium to full-bodied, elegant, and seamless profile that certainly gives you a glimpse of the style and quality found in both the Bettina and flagship Cabernet. Complex toasted spice notes, dried herbs, flowers, and pure cassis all emerge from the glass, and it shines for its elegance and balance. It’s going to evolve for 15-20 years with no issues.

The 2018 DB 4 is a supple, up-front wine that will drink well right out of the gate. There is plenty of the darkness and intensity that readers expect in a Bryant wine, but in a more accessible package. Crème de cassis, chocolate, licorice and dried herbs add layers of aromatic nuance. I would cellar the 2018 for a year or two. It's a gorgeous second wine from Bryant.

Composed of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Proprietary Red DB4 was aged in French oak, 72% new, and bottled in July 2020. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with flamboyant red fruit scents of kirsch, red plum preserves and redcurrant jelly giving way to a blackberry compote and cassis core with emerging nuances of cedar chest, pencil lead and dried Provence herbs. Full-bodied, the structure is super firm and tightly grained with fantastic freshness, while the mid-palate is powerfully fruited, finishing long and earthy. 610 cases were made.
