Score 91/100 · Robert Parker, Dec 2010

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyrus Ryan Vineyard comes from a two acre parcel on the eastern side of the Napa Valley floor, just off the Silverado Trail in St. Helena. Fragrant notes of black currants, cedar and spice jump from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged wine. Broad, juicy red and black fruits dominate the palate of this medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, juicy, succulent Cabernet. It can be drunk now and over the next 10-15 years. It’s hard to believe that Barnett Vineyards is already 27 years old. Located on a beautiful hillside high on Spring Mountain, they have branched out from their original Cabernet program to include Chardonnays and, more recently, Pinot Noirs, all of which merit attention. Bright ruby-red. Black raspberry, dark chocolate and minerals on the nose. Less dense and powerful than the wines from Spring Mountain fruit but supple and light on its feet, with an attractive balance of sweetness and acidity. Finishes firm, with youthful acidity and broad, dusty tannins.
