Jewelly, low key, lightweight, rather chewy. Not refined, without real depth. (Average group score: 15) (JR)

The only time I tasted the 2003 Reserve de la Comtesse out of bottle, it was somewhat monolithic and superficial, but charming and well-endowed. A 46% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc cuvee, it is well-made and can be over the next 8-10 years.

Impressively deep colour. Very healthy look with attractive freshness on the nose. Sweet palate entry but then some very dry tannins are apparent and there's a note of overripeness on the palate. Grainy tannins and a very sudden end. Not integrated. (JR)
