Tasting notes
The 2010 Champagne Premier Cru Vertus Millesime Côte is just a shade deeper medium yellow color, and has tremendous power and persistence, with mouthwatering citrus energy in its notes of hazelnut and chalky, salty earth. It has a sustained depth as well, with a note of lemon oils. The winemaker at Les Monts Fournois is Juliette Alips.

From a village in the southern area of the Côte de Blancs and made entirely from Chardonnay, the 2010 Champagne Cote Vertus Premier Cru is a bright straw/silver color and offers more saline notes, with Meyer lemon, bright apples, bread dough, and hay. The palate is medium-bodied but has broader shoulders and offers a pithy and chalky texture that has real structure throughout. It’s not showing any signs of slowing down and remains very fresh. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
The 2010 Côte Premier Cru is 100% Chardonnay from Vertus. Bright, aromatic and also surprisingly youthful, the 2010 is immediately appealing, immediately alluring. It's a terrific example of this vintage at its finest. Tangerine peel, pastry, white pepper and flowers all race across the palate. A Champagne of uncommon depth and nuance, the 2010 Côte is irresistible. Its also one of the very best wines I have tasted in this series of micro-négociant wines from the Bérêche family. What a delight. Dosage is 3.4 grams per liter. Disgorged: October 2023.
