A pretty, even elegant, Russian River release is the 2014 Pinot Noir Koplen Vineyard, which saw around 20% whole clusters and just under a quarter of new oak. Plums, spice box, black cherries and violets all flow to a medium to full-bodied, pure, seamless and silky 2014 that has fine tannin, no hard edges and a great finish. (JD)

Kosta Browne's 2014 Pinot Noir Koplen Vineyard offers up a super-classic expression of the Russian River. Succulent red cherry, plum, spice, hard candy and new leather all flesh out as this effortless, engaging Pinot shows off its welcoming personality. (AG)

Harvest from September 10th to October 10th, the 2013 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a sexy, supple and textured effort that has lots of jammy dark fruits, licorice and toasted spice. Surprisingly textured and rounded, it has terrific purity and a hard-to-resist personality. I don't see any reason to delay gratification and would drink bottles over the coming 4-5 years.

Red-fleshed stone fruits, crushed flowers and sweet spices are some of the notes that are pushed forward in the 2013 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast. Overall, this is a decidedly forward, juicy Sonoma Coast Pinot built on opulent fruit and near-term appeal. The 2013 is mostly Gap's Crown fruit, which is now an estate vineyard for KB.
