With its extravagantly aromatic perfume, the Richebourg is reminiscent of an exotic Asian tea with notes of bergamot, anise and lavender-scented pomegranates. Initially, the texture is firm and somewhat restrained, but the palate shows more richness and density. As Aubert noted, it is a wine that 'likes to be seen and is not shy at all'. This classic Richebourg is produced from several parcels that total over 3.5ha, including the portion that borders Romanée-Conti and La Romanée to the north. Superb!

Pale garnet. Slightly mute nose but with the impression of masses underneath. Light and jewelly with power surging up towards the finish. Undertow of pomegranate and autumn undergrowth. Neat and lightly chewy. Transparent and sort of weightless. Decidedly aérien! 1,261 cases (JR)
There is a lot to admire in the 1985 Richebourg, is a decidedly lifted, perfumed Burgundy endowed with striking aromatics, mid-weight structure and fabulous overall balance. The 1985 won't last forever, though, so it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later. Scents of orange peel, Campari, herbs and dried flowers add myriad shades of nuance. I absolutely adore bouquet here.

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti or simply “DRC” is without doubt the most famous domaine in Burgundy and one of the most famous producers on earth. The Grand Cru vineyard from which it takes its name produces the world’s most expensive wine by a long margin.
