Tasting notes
Aromas of lilacs and apple butter (apple compote plus baking spice). A nimble and citrus-infused rock climber ascending the craggy cliffs to new aromatic and structural heights. Deep, nuanced aromatics, more spice than wild funk. Juicy palate with mineral edging. Decidedly more structural than the airy stylings of Frühlingsplätzchen or Felseneck. Elegant and lingering. (PS)

The 2021 Halenberg GG offers a deep, pure, fresh and aromatic yet also rich and intense bouquet with flinty, iodine and plummy aromas but most of all a fascinating purity of darker-toned slate and lime juice aromas. Full-bodied, rich and powerful on the palate, this is a massive, dense and rich, enormously salty and powerful Halenberg with notes of crushed stones and iodine on the finely tannic finish. Very, very long and aromatic as well as juicy. A giant Riesling. Tasted as a sample at the domaine in July 2022.
